Why would the Church of England have anything to do with Rangers. I'm an avid Rangers fan and staunch supporter of Church of Scotland. I believe religion has nothing to do with football. You are talking out of your hole!!!

Although religious divides are traditionally central in Scotlish football, they are largely irrelevant in England.
In England, back in the early 1980s when the neo-nazi National Front used football grounds to recruit support and cause racist chanting, Chelsea fans were particularly notorious for their NF support (they even attacked their own black players such as Paul Canoville). There were a few other clubs, like Leeds, where this also happened but Chelsea were by far the worst.
Glasgow Rangers fans have always been associated with sectarian anti-catholic British nationalist sentiments, and therefore some fans of both clubs began to link up and get friendly, due to shared far right-wing politics which they saw as common interest.
Other clubs have similar fan links for other reasons, such as Liverpool and Celtic for their shared heavily pro-Irish catholic support.

Not because of the church.
Chelsea fans used to come up to Glasgow to watch Rangers play in the old firm and then riot after the match.
Thats the connection.
Thats why the scotland national team don't have a problem with riots and the england national team do.
Its not the rangers fans causing 60-70% of the trouble its the chelsea fans.
In saying that, some Rangers fans like Chelsea... but only because of the million pound squad they have.

Yes there is a bond with both teams being strongly connected to the Church of England or protestant/christian church.
Religion shouldn't be a part of footie but it is, and the old firm would not be the same without it, that's just a plain fact.

YES they do and they are both the most annoying teams in the world. They are the only 2 teams i can say i really hate. Rangers are English wannabe's and anyone who says they arent i have one question. Why before the world cup were they holding banners saying we are going to the world cup and you're not. Strange one that isn't it.
