Are there any swirl vanes, diffusers or anything like that I cant find any technical info on them it driving me mad.

There are swirl vanes surronding each fuel nozzle. They cause the incoming air to swirl creating better mixing of the atomizied fuel and air entering the combution chamber.

This is a tough question. Since I am only rated on 5 engines, swirl vanes may be an issue for engine size and manufacturer. Sometimes the swirl vanes are mounted just behind the can nozzles. Try searching the smaller engine manufactuers, since aircraft manuals are too vague when it comes to engine internal parts.
