Because physical pain goes away, but emotional pain hangs around and tortures your soul.

While external beauty and scarring is skin deep and can change with time, emotional pain is not. That lasts a lot longer because emotions do not necessarily heal with time alone. They also heal when we come to terms with what went wrong and we can forgive ourselves or the other person for causing it to go wrong in the first place. Without forgiveness, there is no true healing.

An emotional hurt lasts longer than a physical hurt and so tends to hurt more. A physical hurt tends to be in one area where a emotional hurt is all over.

It's a different kind of pain. My stomach hurts like a bastard and i feel like puking.

And you don't dwell on physical injuries. Once it's done it's over.
