I agree that the concept of God does take the easy way out. It gives an easy answer to why we have to do certain things like wait to have sex after marriage. It also gives us an "out" for horrible acts like the Crusades. They killed thousands of people in the name of God.
With the universe this size, how can we even begin to believe that we are so special and wonderful that we are the only living beings in the entire expanse? It takes a lot of ego to think that we are the ONLY ones.
You are right...there has to be more to it.

Yes, believing in God is taking the easy way out, you will be traveling the road least traveled. Although that is the only way. In other words you have two choices. God or the devil. Ask yourself is it easier to smile or frown? Is it easier to go to heaven or hell. Think about it, if you live your life as a mean, cruel, dirty, evil, uncaring, unloving, selfish, greedy person, etc... etc...etc...one is able to go on and on you see; how would you feel about yourself? Who could you find to love you? Who would you love, besides yourself? Who would trust you? Better, who could you trust? You might find yourself in a pig pin or worse. You may have all the money one is able to obtain; yet you would not have God which you receive through Jesus Christ. Now someone tells you that with the Triune God you would have everything one could ever ask or think here on our planet in our universe and heaven too, just believe. Now this is the thing, one would not be sure until one died. Whom would you choose? Which life would you choose to live? The choice is yours. Now I must tell the truth, you can know before you die.

Easy way out of what? What mean you? Sure, there's the possibility of alien life in the universe (I personally think there HAS to be, given our own existence), but what does that have to do with God and an easy way out?

No. The idea of a universe without it's Creator and the creatures without theirs not only wouldn't exist, it cannot function a single day without Him keeping the earth on it's axis, giving us four seasons, just the right distance from the sun, all the stars and planets aligned to his plans. You are right that you can look at this world and not begin to understand the Creator. One day He will show us all the mysteries of the universe, those who are His children and have come to know Him through His Son Jesus. You are looking right at Him and not seeing Him. The only way you'll comprehend Him the least bit is to invite His ONLY begotten Son, Jesus into your heart and life. There will be all eternity to explore.

Knowing God is the easy way out. Before I discovered God I lived a life of fear and hopelessness. Now that I know God is in control things are on cruise control.

'man's unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true, rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible, has always astounded me. we long for a caring universe to forgive us for our childish mistakes, and, in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary, we will pin all our hopes on the slimmist of doubts - god has not been proven not to exist, therefore - he must exist' - Prokhor Zakharov, 'For I have tasted the Fruit'.
Not all of that i agree with, but anyway, why talk about the ineffability of the universe? you are a human, with a human's perspective, and yet you seek to understand things from a universal perspective. why bother, you will always be unsuccessful, because you cannot escape your human perspective on things. thats the mistake that led to god being invented, and, as a mistake, it will not lead us any further along the path to enlightenment.

By easy way out do you mean that our belief system and God are just a fable told down though centuries by a scribe? Or are you saying that there are beings in outer space that control our fate? Any way good question..... It gives food for thought.

Easy way out? Somehow I don't think going through a tortuous death is taking the easy way out.

According the biblical accounts, God who existed before created everything you can observe. This simply means that God exists inside and outside our universe.
We know God is spirit (wind). We know what we can observe, but we have no idea about what we can't observe. It is only revealed to us.
