I am a legal immigrant. I was naturalized almost 20 years ago. It wasn't easy and it required a lot of work. I'm not saying I should be applauded for my efforts but at the same time, why are so many Americans so willing to accompany illegals? They don't play by the same rules. Go ahead, learn spanish, give illegal immigrants healthcare, educate their families at no cost to them, heck let them get away with breaking the law. It is a slap in the face to all legal immigrants of the United States. I believe in a strong American workforce, it is the backbone of America. That backbone is getting weak. What do you think?

Illegals are not allowed. They are just not reported and tolerated by those who benefits from them for cheap labor and companionship.

The problem for all people is that after some time they do forget where they come from and how was that for them. I am not asking in what way you got your citizenship nad was it hard or easy. I am saying that you were at the same type of situation as illigal immigrants here. Tell why did you come here at first place? To get Naturalized? You were illigal as well as all the people right now who are illigal. By, let just say, 'Luck" you've got naturalized, your all documents were approved and you became a citizen. But i really would want to look at you now if goverment come to you and tke your citizenship away and you with no documents sitting on your butt and are afraid everyday that you'll be deported. Fun huh? Lucky you to have a citizenship. I'm sure you had a hard time as well like that 20 yrs ago. So what happned to your memory? Forgot? Forgot where you came from, what is your country? You will never be a 100% American as you were not born here, you will be alwasy an imigrant here. So what are you complaining about. You shouldn't say a word, no complains or even discussions about illigal imigrant issue at all as this is not your country (citizenship doesn't mean anything) and you a a shame that you forgot who you were 20 yr ago.
I am getting my citizenship in 2 days, but i will alwasy remeber how hard is that to live in the country illigal.
I hope you will find yourself and in future will never even raise a questions like that as you have your country and have to be proud of where you came from.
Best luck to you. Maybe go a find some people that are illigal here and talk to them, i'm sure your opinion changes.

You've brought up a point that is almost invariably overlooked by media and the liberal establishment (of which I am one)... I have had numerous friends go through the process of becoming a citizen of the United States, having legally entered this country via legal means.

By becoming a legal citizen, they lost all the benefits given free to illegal aliens - free education, free health care, etc... whilst the illegals invariably receive these benefits. It became a standing joke in my lab when anyone earned their citizenship... they'd lost all the freebies the illegals get... and now they were taxed as well.

The situation is ludicrous at best... those who enter the United States legally are punished for abiding by the laws, and those who enter the United States illegally are rewarded.

If frankly really Pisses me Off... abide by the law and get punished, defy the law and get rewarded... am I the only person born here who sees this as WRONG?

You're obviously an American... and have America's interests at heart. I think the major international corporations constant attempt to increase profits is the fundamental problem here... outsourcing overseas, as well as a reliance on underpaid and illegal immigrants is the fundamental problem today.

Well said.

Well, as I realize Obama's function, by way of making sure that everybody has entry to drivers licenses, they're now in a position to take the critical checks. More importantly, they could even be in a position to get driving force's coverage. Seriously, given the alternative, who could wish to force and not using a license? And hazard being nabbed by way of the police officers? Don't understand how legitimate it's--like if illegals could believe the method--however it does make experience as an issue of public security. It is a reality, despite the fact that, that Obama helps the degree.

Most of the legal immigrants that I read about are educated and have the time plus money to become legal. Are you also white or fair skin. You also put down the illegals from your country.
Now most of the illegal aliens are brown skinned, uneducated and do not appear to have the money for the fees.Stop acting like you are better than them.I have met your kind and you even think you are better than Mexican-Americans. I am Mexican-American and I want them to come over. I do not care if my taxes go up or what ever.

I'd have to say corporate interests are fueling the immigration surge. Greedy CEOs, puppet government officials that see only the $$ and Americans that are to lazy to do most of these jobs are the other major factors. I feel sorry for legal immigrant like you that had to wait their turn just like my family did years ago and now corporate greed for lower wages is just erroding the very foundation of America itsself.

Bro, stop talking bullshit, 20 years ago everything was easier, even to get a social you were not required anything, just a passport.

Its easy once you're here start accusing and judging but you dont have idea. How can you compare 20 years from now. Immigration laws are changed every 10 years and usually they get tougher.

most of the patrols guarding our borders are corrupt, they take cash bribes or drugs or other items in exchange for letting the immigrants in, our government has never had a strict policy for the illegals in this country until debate has sparked up recently, soon hopefully things will change

How much work did it take to be naturalized? How many miles did you walk through the desert risking your life for this country? You were also an illegal and now after 20 years you forgot. You are a shame to your countrymen and culture.

The reason we're so tolerant of illegal immigrants is because none of the rest of us want to buff Wal-mart floors at 1:00 am for $5.75 an hour.
