Chemical straighteners are VERY drying and can definitiely damage the hair if you do not seek a prefessional's help. Plus, if you blowdry or use a pressing iron on top of a chemical relaxer, you're asking for more and more damage every day.

What I would do is make an appointment with your hairdresser to have her/him TEACH you (not just show you) how to do your hair in several ways so it always looks great. Have her/him show you how to hold the dryer and brush and what heat settings to use.

The worst compliment I've ever received as a cosmetologist is "You make my hair look so great that I can never duplicate what you do at home, myself". It means that I didn't take the time to show my client how to look her/his best all the time.

Also, if you can find them at a salon near you, KMS's Curl Up or Flat Out lines are some of the BEST products out there!

No, a chemical straightening is harmful for your hair, better use a ceramic straighener instead !!
Try BabyLiss.
