You contact microsoft! They will have it registered to you if you had a legal installation and will give you a new key.

Reformatting a single PC and reinstalling the OS on the same machine multiple times will NOT cause the key to be blocked by Microsoft's servers. When you activate Windows, your computer transmits your hardware information to Microsoft. Then, every time you reformat, as long as the hardware remains the same, Microsoft detects that it is still the same computer and will never block the key no matter how many times you reformat and reinstall. If your key has been blocked, you have been using it on multiple machines. Buy a license for each computer and you won't have a problem.

Well you will have to call thier tech support number and hopefully they don't make you pay for a key. REMEMBER BACK UP YOUR DATA OFTEN! That will prevent you from having to suffer from viruses
