milk or water?
the kittens are 3 months old and have been separated from their mother.

Hi there...kittens and cats should only drink water. Cows milk causes diarrheoa in felines and in kittens this can be fatal because diarrhoea dehydrates them very quickly. Any veterinarian can confirm this fact.
At 3 months they are old enough to now drink water only. Younger kittens need kitten replacement milk (called KMR) found at most pet stores. http://www.petguys.com/-020279995140.html

Cats do not have the proper enzymes to properly break down the sugar in milk which is called 'lactose.' You may have heard of people who are lactose-intolerant. They are also missing these digestive enzymes. If the proper enzymes are not present, the lactose remains undigested and tends to ferment in the intestine and cause diarrhea. Some pets can tolerate a little milk, others, none at all. If your pet enjoys and appears to tolerate milk, you can give your pet small amounts. Better yet, give your pet one of the special cat or dog milks on the market that have had the lactose removed.

Cow milk is good for calves. Kittens should receive water.

3 months? At 12 weeks they should be eating regular kitten food and drinking water.

Water is the best thing for them, Not cows milk, but you can buy special made milk from supermarket for cats, it does not contain lactose

cats should never drink milk unless it is milk from their mother, or kitten formula sold at pets stores. CATS ARE ALLERGIC TO MILK.
Cats should have a large bowl of WATER readily available to them at all times, as well as high quality cat food that does not contain animal byproducts or corn products.

Water. Cow's milk will make your kittens stomaches upset and they will wind up with diarrea.

Milk can be harsh for them, if its not cat milk. It can promote calcifications to develope on thier bones and become painful later in life.

Water. Most cats are lactose intolerant. You can buy lactose free milk forumulated for cats.
