so that you can cleanse yourself from your sins and accept God. you're 'born again' when you accept God in your life. I know this all sounds really retarded, ith oguht so too until it happened to me. it changes your life, honestly.

Well, a person must be born again because God says so. To be born again, First you have to admit you are a sinner, Then you have to repent your sins to God and ask for forgiveness and truly mean it. Then you must except Jesus as your savior. Here is a prayer:
"God, I'm convinced I am a sinner, and that Christ alone can save me. I willingly repent of my sinful life and believe Jesus Christ died for me. I want to receive Him as my personal Savior."

This is one of the prayers, but there are others or you can use your own words. God wants to hear what you have to say in your own words anyway, as you have to have a person relationship with God so He knows you. Ask Jesus into your heart. Your life will change so much. After this you are born again and saved, but now you must walk with the Lord. You cannot go back and repeat the sins you just repented. Once you are saved, the Holy Spirit works so that if you do something wrong you will feel convicted.
Anyway, you might want to find a good Christian pastor who can help you with this. God Bless

to be born again simply means that you give up your old life to live a new one as a follower of christ. to be born again means that you rid yourself of sinful ways and strive to be a good christian, and accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior. To be born again in Christianity is synonymous with spiritual birth and, in some denominational traditions, salvation.

Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God."
Jesus answered him, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born again."
Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit."
-John 3:1-5

Consequently, most Christian denominations hold that a person must be born again in some sense in order to be a Christian, and thus that all who are true Christians are in fact born again, whether they describe themselves as such or not

A person must be born again in order to believe in Jesus Christ our Lord our Savior and Redeemer from sin. God the Holy Spirit, calls to repentance and acceptance of the Lord and what he has done for us on the cross. When this happens, your eyes open and you get faith and understanding.

It's funny that most Christians seem to take things literally in the bible, that should be take metaphorically, and they take things metaphorically that should be taken literally. Being born again actually refers to reincarnation, and should be taken literally. Reincarnation is true and real, but most references to it were removed, from the bible, by the men who wanted to control the people, and they didn't want the people to believe in any thing that would let them keep their own power.

It's metaphorical. It means that you have to 'kill' your old life of sins, whatever they were, and start a new life of righteousness (be 'born').
