I have almost the same problem. My 4 lower discs are gone & I am in agonizing pain all day unless I am on pain medication. I am now opting for surgery. I cannot stand the pain and discomfort any longer & have to do something about it. I'm sick & tired of taking pain medication to feel half normal, then i'm always tired from the meds. I am supposed to have a double artificial disc replacement & a double disc fusion, but my insurance won't cover the artificial discs. I now have to have a quad. disc fusion, which sucks, but hopefully will help the pain & make me feel somewhat normal.
Have you tried any physical therapy or aqua therapy? Maybe that might help, for me it didn't, made it worse. I feel your pain, literally.
I wish you the best. Good Luck.

I know exactly how you feel...........i have chronic pain also due to severe scoliosis. All i can tell you is try the chiropractor or try accupuncture (i hear this really helps). Unfortunutely, i had to have my lumber fused so there really isn't much more i can do except take my pain meds and do water areobics. I'm still in pain but nothing like i was before the surgery. I lost 2 inches and this threw (i believe) my body ALL OUT OF WHACK so now i've ended up having a minor knee surgery so that i can have a total hip replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO tust me, things could be worse for you as they have been for me. What you need to do first thing is find a really GOOD spine doctor....a specialist!!!!!!! which i did, i live in Texas so i go to Houston where they have the BEST doctors there in the Medical Center. My doctor is Dr. Stephen I. Esses and he specializes in the spine, he is wonderful. And now i have a doctor who specializes in hip replacements so i feel like i'm in good hands!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD luck.............................OH! Yes, i take 1 xanex at bedtime bc it is and can be very depressing not being able to do any of the things that you use to. I'm going through a divorce right now partly bc of this ????????????????????? Some support, huh???

Carol it isn't that much easy to answer such chronic problems unless examined. Nevertheless we have treated many such problems with amazing results which include surgery failures. In your case also i think i can treat you. If you are young success will be more.
Such problems arise due to imbalance of Vital Energy in our body. It can be balanced with the help of acupuncture, magnetotherapy, Yog and food therapy. There are chances of failure in surgery. Therefore you should follow Alternative Systems of medicines. Medicines are effective in infectious area. Taking pain killers is an invitation for other problems. You should opt for natural growth instead of surgery.

Were did the disc go ? I believe they have flattened out , still there but no cushion.Disc are mostly made out of collagen. Try taking large doses of vitamin C 8 to 10 grams a day and drink plenty of water to rebuild the disc.

Try stretching. You might have to look into fusing of the vertibrate. It's not major surgery.

It's important to do things that calm you-like meditation, tai chi, being in nature, hot baths and stay away from toxic people.
