I wasn't too sure how to word it. I'm agnostic as well, and I have my reasons for choosing to be this way, what are yours?
This question is also open to atheists.

Agnostic means you don't know if god exists or not or don't care. It is not a bad position considering there is no proof for or against the existence of god. In the end anyone who claims the existence or nonexistence of god will say it is because of some feeling. You can't base your entire life on some vague feeling.

I was agnostic as a teenager but eventually decided there was absolutely no proof for God and became atheist. I have no memory of ever having a satisfying idea (like the people on this board who 'know' or 'have a relationship', etc) of what 'God' could be.

I'm Buddhist now because I like having some cohesive plan on becoming a better person and understanding the world in a deeper way, but a belief in God can accomplish much the same thing... I just can't do it.

I don't think people actually 'choose' to be atheists or agnostics. Like a computer, your brain assimilates all the data from your education and experience and comes to a logical conclusion., so after thinking about it they 'determine' that they are one thing or another. If you're not sure, you probably need more data. For me it was several months studying various religious dogma and obtaining an elementary knowledge of certain aspects of nuclear physics, biology and cosmology. Problem is, the brain is much less likely to come to a correct conclusion if it has insufficient , biased or erroneous data. Minimize a persons science education and teach religious dogma as 'fact' as so many organizations do and you end up with everything from christians to suicide bombers.

A couple years ago, I decided that I am an agnostic. And here is why.I learned that people go to church out of fear of hell, not out of love for a God.Why would you love a God that makes you feel guilty for every thing you've done? And besides, nobody is ever REALLY sorry for ALL their sins....but they still ask for forgiveness anyway. Why?Because out of fear of hell. For a small number of people (mostly teens), church is a time to socialize with your friends....kinda like school. And most of time it is seen as sort of the "in" thing to be a christian.
I believe Christianity is hypocrisy, it is guilt, it is contradictory....therefore I cannot trust it.I believe all religions should be practiced at home.I do not like nor trust organized religion. All you get is false translations. It should be made illegal for people to push religion onto others.
It bothers me how parents push their religion onto their children....when they should be teaching their children open-mindedness. What do you get out of growing up in a religion? You get people who think their religion is the absolute correct one, when they haven't even studied other religions! Children should not be taught about God, they should be taught religion when they are mature enough to take in the information and make judgements on it accordingly. Children will believe anything.....thats why they should not have religion pushed on them from birth.
And when I say that I am agnostic....I do not lie. Even though my rantings sound atheistic, I am not.
I believe that there are unexplained things in this world that cannot be explained through science, therefore, a higher power MAY be a possibility. But I still want proof like any other atheist.
For those who think I have empty opinions...then I should probably say that I grew up a christian and I accepted Christ and was baptized when I was 16 years old. It was my own choice to leave the church. I do not form my opinions based on what others tell me. I base them on my own personal experiences. I base them on what I have seen and witnessed in my life.

Well for there are just too many unanswered questions. I believe that there is an all mighty being, but I don't believe it is what the church teaches people. I believe the stories about Jesus Christ but who or what was Jesus. Man or maybe some alien. I'm not a kook but hey, he did walk on water and turn two loaves of bread and a fish into a feast for many people.

From christian to Agnostic, no regrets. Simply studied the history of world religions and realised that had i been born in a different part of the world i would probably not have been christian. Religion is mered with tradition.

My choice to be agnostic had to do with a majority of religions espousing to be the 'one true' religion along with their force-fed doomsday dogma. I refused to become brainwashed into the narrowmindedness. I also don't subscribe to the basic sexist nature of religions, in general.

I do believe in a higher power, however. I think it is arrogant of humanity to apply a human face to it - and even more so to view God as a white male. 'God' or what/whoever it is exists in the space between the electrons and protons.....

Common Sense. We were not created by a god. History, Common Sense, Corruption in the Church, Astronomy, ummm, ya mostly common sense, but take your pick. All signs point to no jesus/god/holy-spirit.

If anything, human beings are Gods. We are the most powerful creatures in this universe that we know of at the moment. LOL! That is something to think about.

Being Agnostic means not having enough information to make a decision. If there were proof that God did not exist, I would be an Athiest. If there were proof that God exists, I would believe.

Something is wrong with a God Concept that has taken over 100 million lives and encourages the followers to ignore it.
