whats the diff between being funny (laugh with) and making a fool outta ur self ?!?

i have seen a lots of funny people and some people call them fools or clawns just because they are FUNNY !!! now how do u tell if hes making a fool outta himself or just funny?

when you are funny, they laugh WITH you
