Fist of all oil wont slow them down and second of all your pets cabn't get the lice from you. If you want to now a sure fire trick to kill them off. Dye your hair the chemicals kill the adult lice and eggs. It is what I ended up having to do to my little sister. Believe me I tried every trick in the book before I just dyed her hair. Hope this helps.

hey, there are a number of ways u can get rid of lice...
1. obviously all the stuff you can buy at the pharmacy.
2. put heaps of conditioner in your hair, get a fine toothed comb and comb them out.
3. tea tree oil around your hair line will help avoid it.
you will need to treat it a few times a week before you can get rid of it.
good luck
i don't know about the dog and cat thing though, sorry!

lice that people have is different than lice that animals have. People lice can't survive on a nimals. To get rid of the lice you need to wash all your clothes, jackets, clean your carpets, bedding, and buy rid shampoo for yourself. Lice can live on your couches also . I would buy some of the spray to put on your couches you might be able to use it on your carpets (not sure)
Hope that this helps

no i dont believe oil slows down lice.
one home remidy my step mom used on me when i was younger was Kerosene. never got em again. lol
set out in the sun with it....yes it sounds dangerous but its not really if u take the right percautions.
and Yes...your dog or cat can definately catch lice by sleeping with you....jus the same way u can catch fleas if they had it & u sleep with them....lol

you made me itch too! yes do your cat with the flea powder, and all bedding must be washed (take it all to laundry mat so you can do it all at once) and vacuum good, and of course use the special lice shampoo on you and anyone else in house
