My friend she is the greatest and I love her to death. She has become suicidal. How can I help her. I met her tlast year at college. N she told me she has 19 dropped courses! I was like wow? I really didn't know how to respond. She barely told me. Now she wants to give up. I really dont know how universities look at this. Since I don't have to worry about it, I dont have dropped courses. I of course don't want her to give up. Does she have a chance getting in anywhere, she wants to do Nursing. Her g.p.a is a 2.5? How can I help her to stop being suicidal. She is smart, is just the laziness and deppression that brings her down. I appreciate her so much. She helped me through a rough time. How can I help her? Do 19 withdrawn courses look horrible for a university?

The main stream of her depression is her health. She has a chronic bladder problem. That stops her from doing all the great things of life.

Right now the REAL PRIORITY is getting your friend into counseling. College won't be an issue if she isn't around to experience it!! She has all the signs of Clinical Major Depression, and can be greatly helped by talk therapy and anti-depressant medication. Everyone should have a friend like you who cares so much!! Good luck and God bless you!!!

now schools are pretty sympathetic to being depressed( at least to me ) they get that it is not something you can help, if you don't know a lot about depression. its a unbalance of chemicals in your brain, basically it makes you not able to cope/deal with stuff, with school its even harder( i had to drop out completely to stay alive ) look into why people are depressed, just do a search on it and you should find some pretty good sites. so how to help... 1. don't change the way you act to her, just be your self, but just make sure you are sensitive about her being suicidal. like i was out with a friend and he wanted to go get a slurpee then go sit on a bridge, but for me i get tempted to jump, so he was cool about it, and we did not go. so that's one thing you can do...2. let her know she can talk to you about it but don't TRY to have her talk about it, don't bring up the subject too talk about it, other then telling her at first that she can talk too you...3. if she can afford it, have her see a therapist, it has helped me allot they can do things for her that you can't...4. of course don't spread that she is suicidal, let her do that if she wants... so that's all i can think of right now, if you ever want more advise you can email me if you wish...oh yeah, she is not lazy. when one is depressed you loos the will to do stuff, even the stuff you love you just don't bother any more, its weird.

Your college should have an advisory unit for such cases, mine does. She seems to be very depressed. I would give her some spiritual advices. Ask her what she wants. Take her to an advisor or a teacher who could be an influnce. God Bless !
