and he and he ex have been getting close
which i really don't mind
but they almost did it
do i break up with him?

almost is as good as done in my book. He has obviously thought about it or he wouldn't have gotten close.
I suggest you have a long serious chat with your man and explain that you don't mind that they have stayed friends, but anything else is unacceptable. If he truly feels anything for you, and respects you he will understand and should cut off contact with her altogether. It is always difficult to stay mates with an ex when you have a new gf. Its not impossible it just depends on the ppl involved and the situation regarding their break up i guess.
I would think to myself, if he has "almost" done it once whats stopping him going all the way next time?

yes if he almost cheated on you then he definatley will cheatd on you again with his ex.. And besides if he with you now why does he still contact his ex.. There should be standard rules that can't cross the line...He still have feeling for the ex.. No use to be with a guy that have half of his heart on someone else beside you.. He should put all his heart out to you..

If they almost did it then he should be willing to not see his ex anymore. Obviously there are feelings between them that he almost did not control. If he keeps seeing her even on a friendship basis he may one day lose that control and then he will have hurt you without meaning too. I would not break up with him yet but I would take it into serious consideration if he sees his ex still in any capacity.

Almost doesn't count. But if he respects you, and plans to keep a future with you, he needs to get her out of his life.

i wouldnt say breakup with him but make sure he knows that cheating is unacceptable
