We had our wedding and reception at the hotel which happened to have one of the best restaurants in town, so they catered. We had shrimp hor deurves while we took pictures. The meal was halibut and steak (Alaskan theme). We had gorgeous dark and white chocolate fountains.

My bridesmaids wore pink with a maroon sash (went to A&M!) and the boys wore black tuxes. We did our flowers pink, white with a splash of green to mix in. We stuck with orchids for all major pieces and color matched for everything else.

very simple and easy, had about 100 guests, a great DJ, he was very professional, I think people go way overboard with weddings, just make sure the food is good, the guests are comfortable, you have an open bar, a ceremony that isn't to long, no one wants to sit there for more than an hour. And most important of all, do not schedule to leave on your honeymoon the day after your wedding, if you get married on a saturday, like most people, leave the following monday or tuesday, you have time to recover, get some rest and open your presents. I think the best honeymoon is on a nice crusie, for a week, tons of things to do, great food, you go to many different places....you just can't beat it. And take your wedding money and buy a house, don't waste money on rent. If you live in PA I can help you get a mortgage loan. good luck. just have fun and don't worry about making every little detail perfect.

Hi! Congrats! We got married with our priest before the big day because of health benefits etc (I'm accident prone:)) But for the big day (which I planned in 6 weeks...and recommend only that long so you don't go over board) We had a winter wedding in Dec in NH (I had a two layered dress --which I'm selling if you're interested:)) but anyway, we were on a strict budget, so I went crazy on only a few things (like my dress). My main color was deep red..for my bridesmaids I actually just told them the color I wanted and told them to find a dress within their means and that suited their body type (so that they could wear it again). For the reception we went to a renovated Victorian house turned restaurant and they were able to provide a lot of the decorations.. we went crazy on the food too, prime rib for everyone...but no dancing.. and I tell you it was a little different but it was sooooo fun because it was relaxed--so I guess the point is, if your on a budget, decide what's important to you..for me it was the food for the guests and my dress..then work around the details and let your creativity and style shine through there...your guests will appreciate the work and non-standard wedding

Very small. We had it at an historic hotel. The ceremony and the reception were both at the hotel. We had a flutist and guitarist for the ceremony music, and for a "cocktail hour" after. We kept just the guitarist for the reception--just pleasant music, no dancing. I definitely liked it that way.

I did not have any color theme. I asked the florist for a colorful bouquet of simple flowers, something like a bunch of wildflowers.

I wish I'd spent more time selecting a cake. We went to a local bakery that was supposed to be good, but not "specializing" in wedding cakes. They didn't give us a sample to try or anything. The cake was not good.

We had a traditional Ukrainian wedding ceremony, officiated at by three priests - two were friends, and one was my husband's brother, so that was really special. It was in my hometown church, and about 200 attended. It was the end of July, and scorching hot - no a/c in the church, and no one thought of fans.
My dress was of traditional heavy bridal satin, with appliques, sequins, crystals and pearls embellishing it. Had a scoop neck, long fingertip sleeves, basque dropped waist and full train. Wore a crystal tiara and fingertip veil.
The colours for the wedding were teal, yellow, lilac and pink. The bridesmaids' dresses had these colours of flowers on a white background - they looked kind of like "painted" flowers, soft and muted. The dresses were ankle length with a full skirt, had criss-cross straps at the back. My attendants ranged in size from 5 and 7 to 15 and 17, but we lucked out in finding dresses that fit all the body types, and they were happy. For flowers, I had a European hand-tied bouquet with an assortment of flowers in my colors.
For the reception food, we had baron of beef for sure, and I can't remember the second meat choice. It was a full buffet, anyway, at a ballroom.
Wish you luck, and have fun planning!

We got married on the beach at sunrise. It was my parents, his parents and our pastor and his wife. The guys wore Tommy Bahama shirts, khaki pants with the cuffs rolled up and no shoes. My mother and his mother wore dresses that they went shopping together to get and no shoes. I wore a strapless fitted candle light colored dress. I actually got it from the prom section of a store. I looked perfect.
I was great because the night before the wedding, we all sat on the beach and talked like old friends....in fact we almost missed out dinner reservations because we lost track of time.
My mother-in-law has 13 bothers and sisters so, his side of the family is large. For our reception, we rented out a park and had a local BBQ company cater it. We had almost 300 people at our reception. We wore shorts and it was very relaxing, stress free and enjoyed by all. The tables were covered with table cloths and the center pieces were floating candles with fresh cut flowers. Since neither my husband or I are big cake eaters.....we had a local candy shop make us a 5' tower of white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate cover strawberries.
Wedding colors were violet and yellow.

My dress had black emobroidery with crystal beads over the top. The dress was a halter so I looked for bridesmaid dresses that were also halters. I decided to go with black dresses. I know that sounds so dark for a wedding, but I used color everywhere else. We dressed the groomsmen in black tuxes, black shirts (we had to buy those), and had maroon vests and ties. My husband wore the all black tux and shirt and had a white vest and tie. The dads wore the black and black and had silver vests and ties. My four ushers had black tuxes, whites shirts and black vests and ties. I liked the seperation, they were all a part of the wedding party, but it was obvious who the groom was! My bouque was maroon, white, and pink, and the guys all had bright pink roses for their bouteniers. They all teased about feeling more feminine, but they looked great against the black. My veil was white but had black edging, luckily, my mother in law is talented and made that for me. I wanted things to be simply elegent, not dragged down by all the ho ha that goes with weddings. I also sisn't want to look back at my wedding and think to myself, "why did I choose that color?"
At the church, we had only a few decorations. Flowers on the alter to remember those that couldn't be with us. The aisle was lined with candles.
After the service, we had bubbles, eco friendly and fun!
We rode to the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. I am crazy about horses, so that was really for me.
At the reception we had chicken and ham, my husbands two favorite foods. And instead of having a big old wedding cake, we had cheese cake, as that was what my ring was in when my husband proposed. We had a dj, that also had karaoke at the end of the night, which was absolutly hillarious, we have it all on tape.
Good luck with your plans, just remeber, you should enjoy yourself, not be stressed out to the max!

I'm getting married on Cinco de Mayo 2007. Since it's a mexican holdiay were going with that theme. Were going to have Mariachi @ the church and during the diner part of the reception. Then were going to have a dj after that. We rented out a ballroom, and we're getting the food from a very good authentic mexican resturant, and hiring servers. Our bar is going have mexican beers, and limited drinks to be served are sangria, mojitos, margaritas, and pina coladas. My centerpieces are goint to be rose bouquets, so that way every table gets to take home a bouquet. My color is Cranberry, and I may accent that with pink. Oh yeah instead of doing favors, I'm going to have a candy buffet. Hope this helps.

Congrats!!! For dresses: is better not to choose black cos it believe it not gd for the couple (for Chinese). Maybe cream beige for the day and sky blue/ light pink or cream champagne for nite. Add a bit sexy kind of design to it that also will be nice.

Decoration: Gold & Silver / Red & cream beige for wedding banquet decoration. With florist on every tables. Use projector to show yur wedding photo, play both of yur favor love song during the wedding banquet.

Food: Got to try it out, which type of food you like yur guest to have. Nowadays, healthtly food is one issue tat ppls consider.

Wedding Souvenir: Candles with both of u picture printed on it.

My husband and I got married in April of 06. My dress was a white strapless. My bridesmaids and MOH wore a pale yellow with spag straps. We got married in a cobblestone, one room church that was built in 1836. It was so classy.. lit candles in the windows.. flowing sheer fabric hung from the rafters with "mossy" strings of greenery and magnolias. The tuxes were more modern, straigh cut coats, and black and white. My bouquet was daisies. The magnolias and daisies went together nice. The reception was nice.. same thing as the church, Fake trees with lights in them, the food, we had roast beef in gravy, chicken, MP, corn, GB, rolls, and salad. The cake was a 3 teir cake with daisies all over it. It was a day to remember. Many people told me that they had never seen anything so beautiful. We did it for under 5,000 with everything included. If you would like to see pics, I can email them to you. blondie62298@yahoo.com

Good Luck and congrats!
