LOL Jesus raised Lazarus from death as he was given the authority to do so by God himself. Jesus likened death to sleeping as it is no challenge for God who created us all from mere dust to remake us again from memory after death.

Lazarus was dead. Jesus raised him from this condition. Jesus understood that God is all power and death doesn't get any power from God. Native human thought doesn't understand what Jesus proved that day.

He was actually dead. He had been buried for several days and people were concerned he would smell when the stone got moved out of the way from the tomb entrance. When Jesus arrived he saw how people were grieving, he too gave way to tears. And when he was describing it to his followers, he told them they had to go on a journey to wake him, when they didn't quite get it, he plainly told them that Lazarus had died.

IF you believe the story at all, it would be difficult to think of him sleeping as decomposition had already started.
Merry Christmas
