No they won't send you away if you say that you have thought about it in the past. If you say that you currently feel that way then that is a different story. You could say that sometimes you feel down and just the slight thought of it crosses your mind but you wouldn't actually do it and they still won't send you away. You actually have to tell them that you want to do it, and you want to do it now and then you'll be off to the farm.
I know this from experience and it's very important that you be honest with your doctor so that you can get on the proper meds.

Depending on the circumstances, like if someone tried to hurt themself, or if the thoughts of suicide are particularly violent, a doctor may want to hospitalize a patient. It's not usual though. Hospitalization would only happen if the doctor thought the patient was a serious threat to themselves or others. One of the benefits of talking with a professional is to be able to tell them of those types of feelings. Life can be very difficult to bear for some people, and having someone to tell those feelings to can help to ease the burden, or discover why those feelings are there. It does not necessarily mean that they need to be hospitalized.

Yes you can. Stay away from psychiatrist's. Their idea of a cure is to drug your a** or fry your brain. Notice the increase the in the rate of mental illness since the "experts" took over in the mental health field. Buy yourself a hand book for the mind: Dianetic's The Modern Science Of Mental Health, get with a friend and try some of the techniques in the book...it's wow stuff.

I think it might depend on who you're seeing. I had a friend visit one after thinking the same things and all he did was help my friend through it...
First Lady or TD, whatever you want to call yourself, I don't think your answers are welcome and you should just stop where you are and leave. Brandon was a little strong though I would be mad too if I was looking for detailed answers and someone gave me the opposite of what I was looking for with no reason.

They can put you in a pshyc unit to have you evaluated to see if you're serious or not. If they don't find anything wrong though then you can check/sign yourself out the next day.
