you can use safe mode setting to find out the cause
or you can simply start pc using best know config. option
in safe mode selection window..(press F8 during system resatrt)

you can use windows cd to repair your problem
just boot from windows xp installation cd but dont select repair at first screen when it asks to repair b4 formattion the drive select reapir this will solve the problem automatically..
or you can use this method:
1}boot from windows xp installation cd
2}select repair this will run dos
3}type cd\
4}now type C:
c is the drive of windows xp installation
5}now type cd WINDOWS\system32\drivers
