The things that God calls sins are all over the bible. You'd have to read it to know what they are. The real question is....is the bible the Word of God. If it's not the Word of God then it doesn't matter what the bible says.
I believe the bible is the word of God because the bible has the signature of God. The Bible has the signature of God attached to it in many ways. One of those ways is Bible prophecy. The old testament has 333 prophecies about the first coming of Jesus Christ and 456 specific details about his life(all written between 400 and 2000 years before he was born). The 4 gospels in the new testament(Mathew, Mark, Luke & John) tell the story of jesus. Had those 4 gospel writers chosen to not write their gospels, we could still have re-created the whole life of Christ just from the old testament(all written before he was born). In fact, that is how the christians preached the gospel in the first 20-30 years after the death of Christ. They preached it from the old testament because the new testament had not yet been written. Man sees history like a person sees the Rose Parade sitting in the stands. The floats that have already gone by him are like the past. The floats in front of him are like the present. The floats still coming are like the future. These prophets in the old testament who wrote about Jesus Christ seemed to be able to see history the way you would see the Rose Parade from a helicopter. They seemed to be able to see the end from the beginning. That tells me that though they were writing these things down the info was not ultimately coming from them but from a higher source because man simply doesn't see history that way. Also, the bible has amazing knowledge about many scientific principals long before these principals were discovered. Seventeen times in the old testament the bible says that God is "stretching the heavens". For thousands of years bible scholar struggles with what that could possibly mean. Then in 1929 Edwin Hubble discovered that the universe was expanding. The bible told us that long ago.
No other religion or Holy Book has this kind of knowledge. All this tells me that these prophets in both the old and new testament were not nutcases but true prophets of God.
Let me just give you some prophecies that were given in the bible about scientifc facts we know today, long before those facts were known(all 66 books in the bible were written between 2000 & 4000 years ago).
1)The earth floats free in space(Job 26:7)---Job was written 4000 years ago. No one knew this fact 4000 years ago.
2)Creation is made of particle, indiscernible to our eyes(atoms, molecules, electrons,.......)(Hebrews 11:3)--- Not until the 19th century was that known.
3)There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean(Jonah 2:5,6)---This was discovered in the last century.
4)Blood is the source of life and health(Leviticus 17:11,14)---Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled" and many died as a result(e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary to bring life giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that "the life of the flesh is in the blood" long before science understood it's function.
5)Our bodies are made of the dust of the ground(Genesis 2:7;3:19)----Scientists have discovered that the human body is comprised of 28 trace elements, all of which are found in the earth.
6) The universe had a beginning(Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:10-12)---Starting with the studies of Albert Einstein in the early 1900's, science has confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a beginning. When the bible was written most people believed that the universe was eternal. Science has proven them wrong but the bible was correct.
7) The earth is a sphere(Isaiah 40:22)---At the time when many thought the earth was flat, the bible told us that the earth is spherical. Incidently, for those who call christians 'flat earthers', that verse is 2700 years old.
8)Scripture assumes a revolving spherical earth(Luke 17:34-36)----Jesus said that at his return some would be asleep at night while others would be working at daytime activities in the field. This is a clear indication of a revolving earth with day and night occurring simultaneously.
9)Light can be divided(Job 38:24)---Sir Isaac Newton studied light and discovered that white light is made of 7 colors, which can be parted and then recombined. Science confirmed this 400 years ago, The Bible declared this 4000 years ago.
10)The continents were created as one large land mass(Genesis 1:9,10)---Many geologists agree that the earth was originally one super continent.
11)Hydrological cycle described(Job 36:27,28)---About4000 years ago the bible declared that God "draws up drops of water which distills as rain from the mist which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man". The ancients observed mighty rivers flowing into the ocean, but they could not conceive why the sea level never rose.. Though they observed rainfall they had only quaint theories as to it's origin. Meteorologists now understand that the hydrological cycle consists of evaporation, atmospheric transportation, distillation and precipitation.
12)Circumcision on the 8th day is ideal(Genesis 17:12)---Medical science has discovered that the blood clotting chemical Prothrombin peaks in a newborn on the 8th day. This is therefore, the safest day to circumcise a baby. If you do it before that he'll bleed to death. How did Moses know that?
13)The universe is expanding(Job9:8,Isaiah42:5,Je... 51:15,Zechariah12:1 and other verses)---Seventeen times in the Old Testament it says that "God is stretching the heavens". During the 20th century most scientists(including Einstein) believed the universe was static. Others believed it should have collapsed due to gravity. Then in 1929 astronomer Edwin Hubble showed distant galaxies were receding from the earth and the further away they were, the faster they were moving. This discovery revolutionized the field of astronomy. Einstein admitted his mistake and today most astronomers agree with what the creator told us thousands of years ago--the universe is expanding.
14)Light travels in a path(Job 38:19)--- Light is said to have a "way"{Hebrew:derek, literally a traveled path or road]. Until the 17th century it was believed that light was transmitted instantaneously. We now know that light is a form of energy that travel at 186,000 miles per second in a straight line. Indeed, there is a way of light.
15)Air has weight(Job 28:25)--- It was once thought that air was weightless. Yet 4000 years ago Job declared that God established "a weight for the wind".
16)Ocean currents anticipated(Psalms 8:8)----About 3000 years ago the bible describles the "paths of the sea". In the 19th century Mathew Maury...the father of oceanography, after reading Psalms chapter 8, researched and discovered ocean currents that follow specific paths through the seas.
I could go on and on but it's late. I've got to go to sleep.
You said "why are these sins considered sins"? The simple answer is that if the bible is the Word of God then God said they were sins. Since He created the universe and all that is in it, He decides what is sin and not us. He makes the rules. If we're smart, we follow them.
Contrary to all the jibberish you hear in todays secular humanist public schools about how we used to believe a lot of myths in the bible and then science came along and proved the bible wrong.....on the contrary, the bible was way ahead of science. Even though the bible is not a scientific book, when it does speak on science it is accurate. To quote Robert Jastrow:
"This is an exceedingly strange development, unexpected by all but the theologians. They have always accepted the word of the Bible: In the beginning God created heaven and earth... [But] for the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; [and] as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries."
- Robert Jastrow

I think it depends on the interpretation or full understanding of the commandment. Thou shalt not steal...The commandment doesn't set a value on stealing. Is it $1:00, $10:00, $100:00..How much constitutes stealing? Any amount constitutes stealing. If an employee messes around at work, takes a "too long" lunch break, talks about social & personal things etc on the phone while on company time, Plays crosswords or computer games, etc. Is this stealing from the employer? The employer is paying the employee to do company work. Anything other than that could be considered stealing. To help answer the question I'll ask. Would the employee do non company work if the boss was standing right next to them? Adultry=sex with other than the married mate. Premarrital sex included Looking at someone with lust, sexual ideas or even just thinking of having sex with other than mate could be considered adultery. Cheating on a test. right or wrong? Sin or not? Yes, it's sin. . You won't see "Thow shalt not take illegel drugs" in the 10 commandments, but is it wrong? Is it a sin?...yes it is. Don't drive too fast--over the speed limit isn't there either. But is it wrong? Is it a sin? ..yes it is. Respecting our leaders, parents, anyone...Do we always respect them when we don't agree on something? To avoid a long answer and cut things to the quick, a person might want to ask themselves. "If my mom, a teacher, a policeman, husband/wife, child, supervisor,or a preacher were standing right next to me, would I do it?? (whatever the thing is). If you think it might be wrong, if you think it might be a sin, then it probably is. If your idea, thoughts, actions, etc. that nobody sees were to be revealed and make you feel embarressed would you still continue doing it?

Jesus loves no wrong. The laws and commandments shall be written on their hearts. All sin and fall short, christ died that we can confess our sins to him and he will forgive as he wills. It.s like when were walking along then stumble and fall, he reaches down a lifts us up again so that we can walk again. Ten commandments were not enough. The Holy Spirit was sent to convict us of sin, Morality

Anything that goes against God's will is a sin. Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God with all your heart, and mind, and soul. When you love God like that, sin stands out very apparent.

Please know that I'm going by the wording in the old english bible, that of the king james bible. Please know ahead of time that I don't believe in condeming atheists, agnostics, gays, etc. I believe in punishing a violent criminal, mostly because I believe that a person would have to be violent in order to be a criminal.
There are only ten commandments. The old testament book of Deuteronomy says of The Lord that "he added no more." There are not more than 10.
Every other phrase in the bible is about what must be done to fulfill those ten.
All the sins that are called sins in the bible are actions that when done destroy people's lives.
He didn't just give commandments just because he wanted things, or had a whim.
The only "bedroom" acts forbidden by God are those involving coercion, as with incest, molesting, rape(see old testament, Deuteronomy, punishment for rape is death).
They're condemned as violating the commandment, Thou shalt not kill, because they destroy human life.
The commandment, Thou shalt not commit adultery, has a meaning you never hear most preachers talk about.
If a man took my wife from me, it would kill me. It would tear me up so bad that I wouldn't be able to function.
Several taboos, prohibitions, and restrictions on sex aren't even biblical(see old testament, Song of Solomon).
One example is "sex before marriage," and that stupid, insipid phrase from "modern bibles," called sexual immorality. "Sex before marriage" isn't mentioned in the bible any where.
Prohibitions for women wearing pants are not in there either.
The phrase "original sin" isn't in there either.
No one is punished, or dies for the sins of others. A criminal is punished for his own crime.
Speaking of that, there must be intent in order for it to be a crime. The word sin has its origin in a word that describes hatred. Since Jesus judges the intents of the heart, he would call the intent to destroy and hurt others sin.
Lying is a sin, too obviously. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. But a punishment, temporary or eternal, is for loss of life as a result of it.
Abortion is not mentioned in the bible. The book of Exodus speaks of men fighting and causing a woman to miscarry. If the woman dies, the man who caused the miscarriage dies. But there has to be, even in the bible, the intent to do evil.
If people wanted to avoid sin, they would avoid violence, and seek to save life.
The first commandment to worship no other gods has a reason and meaning for it that you never hear preachers talk about: Worshipping a false or non-existent god has the obvious result of giving pretended priests power over people's lives, and their rules end up being the ones everyone must follow. They won't have ten commandments, they might add more. Or have none.
Without prohibitions against stealing, murder, etc, life becomes unliveable.
You are wise to ask this kind of question. All the commandments together : Love God, and thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, as Jesus said.
I ask you to read what Jesus said, and think for yourself.
Too many people have added their own taboos, regulations, etc. of all sorts, making life more difficult than it has to be. Life often sucks as it is, and this world is not heaven.
