Every time someone asks these questions, it seems that the majority of answers are from people who really don't know anything about the subject.

There is no evidence that marijuana kills brain cells. In fact, there is evidence that marijuana will actually preserve brain cells in the absence of oxygen which is why it is being researched as a treatment for strokes, among other things.

The largest study of the health effects of marijuana was done by Kaiser Permanente. They found no significant difference in the health records of pot smokers versus those who did not smoke pot.

Both cause significant damage to vital organs if used in excess and repetitively use over a long period of time. Having done a little experimenting in the 70's with both while attending high school, I couldn't function mentally while using either one in excess but the pot buzz wore off quicker than the booze buzz. The pot definately makes you lazier. No scientific facts here, only self experimentation. Neither will improve brain function though. I hear that pot reduces sperm cells also.

most likely alcohol, but truly this is a zero sum game if it comes to abuse. Smoking the mary jane can still cause lung cancer, but if you remove that from the picture, then you've got a winner in weed.
