It carbon dating or carbon 14 dating. Carbon is the basic building block of all living organism. Carbon is available in 3 isotope. C-14 can still been found in fossil. By detecting the amount radioactive in fossil due to C-14 and knowing C-14 1/2 life we estimate the age of a fossil
