I would like to first of all say welcome to my island in advance.

So many things to do in Dominica you would be surprised.

*First thing you want to do when u arrive is drink an ice cold locally brewed beer "kubuli" made with natural spring dominican water

*Snorkelling/Scubadiving-We were rated #one by the readers choice for the healthiest coral in the entire atlantic-that is above places such as bahamas and turkas and caicos. In other words clearly we are the best kept secret-We are not over commercialised.

*River tubing

* hiking to many many trails, mountains to waterfalls lakes(including the boiling lake which is the 2nd largest in the world and largest of Its kind! and only one in the Western Hemisphere.)

*Visit the last and only Carib Indian Village of the Kalinago Tribe that Exists.

*Whale Watching-We were Branded as the "Whale Watching Capital Of The Caribbean"

*Go Atv riding and to our adventure Park

*Horse back riding

*Visiting our historical sites such as the Cabrits Natinal Park-Which is in Portsmouth by the way..

*Take the unique Boat ride Up the indian River(one of the rivers filmed in Pirates of the Caribbean 2)The indian River is also in Portsmouth

I can go on and on on what to do here but i will leave u with this webistes that will not only provide pictures and give u activities but also allow you to book your tour and tour guides before hand ..
Good luck and I know you will enjoy your stay to the "Nature island"
I see jah jah already gave u some good sites try them out along with mine

Well I am from Dominica and you will love it.

While in Portsmouth you should visit The Cabrits National Park...its a historic site with great dive spots in the vicinity. Also in the North you can go to Syndicate Estate and Morne Diablotin and there you will see the national bird and other exotic plants and animals.
Down the west coast on your way to Roseau there are small villages and beautiful beaches and getaways.
While in the Roseau area do the self guided walking tour and get a taste of our history and be sure to visit the Botanical Gardens.

Other places to visit are the Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls, the Carib Territory and if you have the time (because I see this is a short trip) the Boiling Lake.

Enjoy.

I have been to Dominica. I was there during a cruise for a day. It was beautiful, one of my favorite islands hands down. The beaches there are black sand and they are not really good for lounging. I hear they have great scuba/snorkel, though. I went on a 5 hr tour of the island. We went to trafalgar falls and the emerald pool. This island is not touristy at all. Don't worry, when I went in August my ship (Carnival Destiny) was the only ship that goes there. It has so much fruit, it is just amazing. If you love fruit, you will be in heaven! If you love to hike, you are in luck. People said that the river tubing was tons of fun.

Have Fun! It is a wonderful place!
I would not want to rent a car. The roads are INSANE!

This is truly "the nature island" of the Caribbean.

I have been to Dominica so many times. My mom is from Portsmouth. You can visit the rivers and beaches. Go sightseeing to the blowing lake, botanical garden and also make it a point to see the carib reserve. The food is great. Nice local food and drinks.

You will enjoy your vacation in Dominica.
