chosen? Or, maybe like the last tree on the lot bearing the burden of a fresh blanket of snow? When there's no one loving you, this is how you feel.

I live alone... am single... never married. At Christmas time, though, I'm caught up in how I'm going to bless my family, friends, and even my students. When the curtain comes down at Christmas, I will go home alone, but happy and exhausted for having spent the day with family and having spent the month planning for how I wanted to bless them. Ok, and my dog and cats and rabbit live with me, too.

Rather than lamenting being alone, maybe go to your local shelter and help serve Christmas dinner, then stay and help clean up. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering in my community.
It's a lot less lonely when I remember that my life is not shaped by what I get out of it, but more by what I put into it... if that makes sense...

I know exactly how you feel. I have felt it, it seems like forever. I say I hate Christmas, and can't wait for it to be over. I go thru the motions every year... One of these days, we won't be "feeling like the only card left".

I used to feel like that, like I had to have someone this time of year. You'll grow out of it and one day see the holiday for what it's really worth.
