But I understand your confusion; it's a common mistake, dating back to Plato's Ideal Forms. Consider the difference between beauty and Beauty. The absulute form of Beauty may embody something which is not, as it happens, beautiful. That does not alter the fact that it is, undeniably, Beauty. Because I said so, and Plato concurs.
So then is Truth. It is the embodiment of an absolute, it is not open to negotiation, and when you get right down to it, it doesn't even need to be true. It just Is. Truth. So There.

Saying that Christians believe in Truth is every bit as irrefutable and profound as saying "Jesus is Lord". Which is to say, you can't deny it, and it means nothing.

I guess that depends on the question, and your definition of "truth." It also depends on the context, of course.

Take evolution vs. creation. Both sides are so convinced that they are right that they could both equally say, by faith, that they believe in "the truth." However, "the truth" of the matter is, that the evidence supports both beliefs, and neither side can actually say they know. Christians love to ask atheists, "How do you know, were you there?" However, Christians weren't there, either.

A Christian might also be referring to Jesus, who calls Himself, "the Truth, the Way, and the Life." Thus it might just be a statement of, "I believe in Jesus."

Historically speaking, the life of Jesus, as described in the four gospels, is the most "true" history of antiquity. No matter what test you would give any other history to see if it is "true" or not, the Bible passes way beyond any other history we have. It would depend upon the context whether or not this would make a difference in the statement being true or not.

Most Christians, however, tend to use their faith as a reason not to think. It is easier to "know" that you "know the truth" than to actually have to think about how certain truths may change the way you view your faith.

Peace, and God bless!

I agree that it is their truth. The problem is that they are so convinced their truth is the only authentic truth, and that everyone else is wrong......so wrong in fact that the God they believe would send all the rest of us poor misguided souls to an eternity of hellfire. What kind of a God is this? If I had to believe in such a God I would rather not exist at all!

Why can't Christians understand that the only real truth is the truth that each individual finds for himself or herself by looking within for their own truth. You can not find any truth by adopting someone Else's truth. Believe what you will, but understand that your way is not the only way, and your way is not even meant to be for everyone, and no one wrong in God's eyes.... as long as everyone is finding their own truth by looking within themselves.

Cassia Aparecida de Souza apparently believe the truth was that her cat gave birth to canine-feline hybrids, but geneticist Adil Pacheco said they weren't. Either the cat's maternal instincts were in overdrive and she stole some puppies from a canine litter or someone deliberately placed puppies in with the cat's litter.

Some people say the truth is the holocaust never happened in the face of an abundance of evidence that it certainly did.

The truth can be backed up with facts and evidence. Not with hearsay.

It's the 'truth' to them and what they believe and perceive. Whether it's right or wrong is all a matter of personal belief and faith. So there's really no way to tell until we all die and hopefully then we will know everything.

What matters, is that they believe it to be the truth, just as I suspect you to believe in a truth of your own. Isn't it great to have the freedom to believe in your own truth?

Know the truth and the truth will set you free! There is truth and liberty when you come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. If you never try to know Him you will never understand what I mean and if you continue to deny Him you will never be happy in this life.

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
