please know that my sleaze-bag of a brother cheated on her 7-10 times - her words.. and also made her pay for everything.. and generally found him to be cold and not good company -- as he could not carry a conversation with her.. her words.

Sounds like you don't have a very good relationship with your brother. If it's that bad and you want to make it even worse, sure, go ahead and date her.
Personally, I wouldn't do it but, then again, I don't hate my siblings and want to keep on good terms with them. If you have a rotten relationship with your brother and don't want to try to improve things with him in the future, go ahead. There' s no law that says you can't move in now that he's vacated the premises.

I for one say it is quite OK for a person to date a sibling's ex. When one leaves a person under unfavorable circumstances (infidelity, cheapness, unwillingness to compromise for the sake of a relationship, etc.) it leaves her as available for the attraction of any other person who may find her desirable. If it happens to be the brother, and they have a solid friendship built on understanding of the past reputations, and she does not bias her thoughts of him based on the fraternal bond existent between him and his brother, then i see no problems for it. If the brother feels upset or "screwed" by his actions, then this brother has nobody to blame for his loss but himself. A relationship is a balance of yin and yang, if yang or yin cannot find happiness in the yin / yang counterpart, then the unhappy party has every right to find a yang or yin that better compliments him / her, regardless of whether that better compliment is a brother or some other family member.

Not only will he kill you, but that is nasty. How can you date your brother's ex? What if they never broke up and ended up getting married, it would be like you....sleepin with your sister in law.
