if a 15 year old boy tells a therapist he is gay or bisexual, can the therapist tell his parents? is that covered by doctor-patient confidentiality?

It is strictly confidential, unless a situation poses physical harm to someone involved.

If you live in a country like USA/Canada where doctors are bound by ethics and the hippocratic oath, then no-- parents do not have a right to find out.
Age does not matter. It should be covered by doctor-patient confidentiality.
Doctors only have the need to disclose information if it's a matter of life/death or danger to the person or others.

It's confidential, but the therapist is going to strongly encourage the boy to come out. Parents can talk to the therapist about progression of the kid, like "he is opening up more", "at home avoid say this or that, talk about blah, blah, blah', "he is doing better at school", "he is failing school" and stuff like that.

I don't think the therapist has a right to tell anybody.

Ofcourse they cannot tell. The only time they can tell anything is if your life or someone elses is in danger.

NO he's not allowed to.BUt if it's for that boy's own good, it's acceptable though.
