I'm curious as to why you spell God with a hyphen (G-d) omitting the "o"? Just something I had never seen before reading these boards...Is it meant to be more respectful somehow?

Yes, its not to break the 3rd commandment

We dont spell it out in full when such foul language is used on the same website.

Or when we put it on paper that is not to be kept....what if that paper is recycled and used as toilet paper?? Just trying not to disgrace His name... a Jewish belief that I agree with.

I think that they think it is an attempt to not use God's name, they think the title is the name. I on the other hand show respect for both God and Jesus by capitalizing the H. when I write His or He when talking about one of them.

I believe it just applies to Jews. I have a friend thats Jewish and she told me that she never writes out the word "God".

It's actually meant to be *less* respectful, especially if your religion does not teach a belief in God, or you are an agnostic or athiest.

The jews did that historically, they weren't supposed to write his name.

No, it's direspectful because they aren't saying the full word. If they like this guy so much, why don't they just say it? Mr. God.
