I guess talking on the phone could be a clue but there are some women who have a deep voice and some men who don't. Talk and don't take it serious. I would hate to think i was talking to someone i wasn't!

you could ask but with so many people on-line pretending to be something there not its hard to tell
you could always have a cam chat with them
and hope they don't have a friend over to throw you off

There are questions you can ask that will help you figure it out if you think about it. Find out their likes and dislikes and base your questions on their answers. Like are they sports fans? If so what kind and were they on a team. Like hockey, girls aren't on any hockey teams that I know of and their are only a few football players that are girls that are on teams.
