My parents hated this guy I was seeing who is divoiced and because I was so scared I said that I was not seeing him some ten yrs ago. Now I would like to tell my parents that I really want to marry him but at the same time not loose or break my family. how do I break this news to them.

so, you've been seeing this guy for 10 years now, and lied to your folks about seeing him? for 10 years?!! i wouldn't be surprised if they disowned you, since you've lied to them for so long!

I would start out by apologizing and tell them that you felt like you had to lie because their behavior made you feel like you were backed into a corner. Tell them you know they were only doing what they thought was right, but the true right thing would be to let you follow your own heart.

well, that is a very difficult situation... do you know why your parents hated this guy??? if you think logically, there is a chance this guy might end up divorcing you too... what was the reason of this divorce and who do you think was correct? can this guy be trusted? ask yourself questions and if you find yourself doubting, please think twice or consult your best friends. and i think it's time to talk everything out with your parents--strengthen that fraying bond! :) gd luck...
