Actually there is really nothing to it. There are plenty of VHS/DVD dual players out that will record the program from the VHS to the DVD as you watch it.

Probably the best place to go for the best selection would be eBay. Go to consumer electronics under the home screen. Then go to DVD recorders and add VHS or the DVD/VCR combo player/recorders. You can easily get a decent one for about $120. Its that simple.

Yes just buy a machine which will transfer from VHS to DVD. I got mine from Amazon.com. It 's a daewoo and cost 140 english pounds.

There are LOADS of these machines available now. Look for one where you just have to press a button and the whole process is automatic. Then you can go away and do something more interesting.

What I definitely DO NOT recommend, is using a PC to do it. This way is more suited to the anorak "hobbyist" type who enjoys endlessly fiddling with "settings". I know because I bought an analogue to digital converter and all the sofware. It had to fiddle about for a long long time and the results were never that good.

You need a VCR/Recordable DVD player combi, with an internal hard drive, you then record the video onto the hard drive, and then record the hard drive onto a recordable DVD. You can get varing quality of these combi's but Tesco's had a fairly decent one in about two months ago for about £120.00

Good luck

if the films are genuine copys ie bought from shop,
then it wont record as there is a code on the tape that tell ether vidio recorder or dvd recoder no to copy (Been there and tryed it)
but if it off the tv then no problems just need a recrder a nd scart to scart lead and that is that as far as recorders are concerned there are plenty to chose from and are comming down in prise fast!
