I'm looking to hear about other people's strategies for either supporting a borderline person or caring for yourself and dealing with the manipulation and blame that are a part of the disorder. I really need to hear from someone caring for a bpd that understands some of the difficulties and key concerns for both the bpd and the carer. I would love to hear about personal experiences. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good strategy for dealing with people with BPD. The rate for effective treatment for folks with that condition is fairly low. Most psychiatrists will tell you that it's all the family of BPD people who wind up in treatment, because the BPD person won't admit that they need help, and refuses to seek treatment themselves. With them, it's a case of them feeling, "I'm okay, it's the rest of the world that's sick". I wish I had a positive idea for you, but I really can't offer anything other than, "hang in there" knowing that you're not the one who is sick, and hope that maybe this person will finally seek help on his or her own. Good luck.
