Non steroidal - anti-inflammatory medication that is not a steroid. Also see steroid
Steroidal - Anabolic Steroid abuse has become a national concern. These drugs are used illicitly by weight lifters, body builders, long distant runners, cyclists, and others who claim that the drugs give them a competitive advantage and/or improve their physical appearance

a steroid is a class of drug that mimics an actual steroid in your body, but has plenty of adverse side effects
a non-steroidal is a drug that can act like a steroid in your body, but doesn't have the same array of side effects...they have some, but not as detrimental as those associated with steroids...

steroidal anti-inflammatory - Prednisone.
non steroidal anti-inflammatory : Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil)
Steroids tend to have horrendous side effects, like shrinking your genitals, depleting your bones of calcium, "roid rage" (uncontrollable rages).
NSAIs have their own side effects, but tend to be much less severe or long lasting (ulcers, stomach upset, etc.)
