my television is a sony trinitron about 32" and has been in the family for about 4 years. why does this problem happen? Its happened to a couple of my former television sets but I've never fully understood the cause of this. Does anyone know why?

mattyg said it well. anything with magnets in it will do it (even cell phones). If you do have to call somebody, all they have to do is wave a deguassing wand over it, so dont let them over-charge you!

Check for unshielded speakers near the TV. The magnets in normal speakers will effect the TV's color if too close. If that is the case then move the speakers out of the way. If you still have the problem then don't use the TV for a day or 2. If you have a "degauss" feature then this will solve the problem. If you still have spots you can call the local TV repair man and ask them if they can degauss you TV. They have a tool that counteracts the magnetic effect on you tube. Hope that is want you meant by "pink spots"?

You could have loose conections or it could be the weather, is it wind or storming out? The tv its self is not that old.
