I love using my American Rodsmith rod in both fresh and saltwater but I can not narrow it down to just one pole I have 3 that have served me well. 1) American Rodsmith 8ft bait caster
2) Tournament Choice 7th spinning rod (3) AllStar 7ft bait caster
I am biased about my favorites but you will have to try for yourself to find a rod you are comfortable with.
If you have the money get a custom built rod that is designed and balanced for exactly what you are fishing for.

This is hopefully what you are talking about with the best of both worlds and a not-so-cheap price, the G-Loomis is the Cat Daddy. Only $250.
I like the 8'2" X-fast model for redfish and it works well for bass fishing with 1/4 oz thru 1 1/4 oz lure weight with 10-20 lbs lines.

My next choice would be a similar All-Star rod at 7' Moderate fast trout/redfish rod, and it's $100 less pricey.

The mustard color Tiger rod by Shakespeare is the best rod I have ever used for both. I have 12 of them and for the money, about 55 dollars, it is impossible to beat IMO. The mh is a very stiff rod and plenty big enough to handle fish up 90 pounds, my personal best catfish and a 130 tiger shark in Florida. I generally use my medium action rod and even some of the Tiger Lites.

I use a Big Game rod (Walmart-cheap) with an Abu-Garcia 6000, and a flipping stick with a Abu-Garcia 5000.
