Split End causes, cure and prevention
Ceramide Deficiency ?
If your hair is experiencing split ends, then your hair probably needs some more of hair’s natural cement – the ceramides which bond hair cells together. Ceramides are susceptible to damage from chemical and physical stresses like exposure to heat, sunlight, treatments like colouring and perming and even excessive combing. All of these cause loss of natural ceramides. The depletion of ceramides weakens the hair structure and causes damage. As a result, your hair loses its shine, feels rough and breaks easily. Dry hair is prone to split ends and breaking.
how to get rid of split end
Split ends indicate damaged hair. When you have split ends, the only solution is—to snip them off! So do make a trip to the hair dressers and get the job done.
Preventing split end
You can easily prevent split ends from occurring again. Here’s how:
Make sure you have a healthy diet.
Use light, cleaning hair products which do not dry your hair.
An Ideal Shampoo For Split Ends
Use a good shampoo that contains natural ingredients like henna and lotus. It not only results in gentle cleaning and conditioning of hair but provides nourishment from henna which strengthens the roots of the hair.

You could try the Split Ender, I wanted to get one but never got around to it. Supposedly if you run it through your hair it will cut the damaged ends off leaving the non-split ends uncut. Just do a search on Yahoo, I'm sure you could find one.

ok i suggest investing in a good conditioner for dry and damaged hair, i love andrew collinge's perfect endings conditioner which smells of fruit salad sweets. Also regular trims are a must, and avoid too much styling i.e. hair dryers, straighteners. don't use those awful brushes with plastic bits on the end, they tangle up hair and break the ends.

First of all, you need to get a trim, so that most, if not all your split ends will be gone. Then have the daily routine of using moisturizing shampoo and conditioner--to keep your brittle hair healthy.

This sounds kind of weird, but I would just get a pair of scissors and only.cut off the dead ends When I had really long hair, I used to do this, and it made a huge difference.

Remember to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, a handful of walnuts, low fat yoghurt, avoid sun and wind, do condition with a leave in conditioner.
And use oilve oil in cooking.
Use gentle, herbal shampoo only twice a week and plain water only, if you wash more often than that, for freshness and curl.

You don't have to cut allot off, but you do have to trim the ends of your hair to get rid of them... that's the only way...after you get them trimmed be sure to deep condition your hair allot to prevent them so much... you are supposed to get your hair trimmed every couple of months.
