How much milk is he getting in those bottles? Cow's milk can fill a child up to the point where he has no appitite for other foods, and it also interferes with the absorption of iron, so it is very important that he be getting plenty of iron and vitamin C rich foods. There is no such thing as too much water, by the way. If he is thristy, offer water. He should not be getting more than 16 oz of milk in one day.

It is also very normal for a child his age to eat less. In fact, children grow more slowly after 18 mo, so he actually needs far less food than you would think. It sounds like he is probalby getting adiquate solids; I just would definately cut back on the milk and probably cut out the juice (unless it is the only souce of vitamin C he will take).

Does he like yogurt? That is one thing my 20 mo has alwyas eaten, no matter what. And yogurt is even healthier than cow's milk, since it contains active bacterial cultures and can actually aid in iron absorption instead of hindering it the way milk can.

Have you talked to your son's doctor about this? It sounds like he's getting what he wants. I know that if a baby is hungry they're going to eat. He's not even two yet and three bottles a long with juice and the other things he eating, sounds good to me. Try not to worry so I know it's hard, I always did, still do. The more he starts walking and running around the more he will eat. It sounds like you're being a good mother so far to me. Just take a deep breath and enjoy that baby.

It is normal for children at that age to go through food jags. Try feeding him different types of finger foods. He might be busy discovering other things. Children at that age don't know how to starve themselves, so rest assured that he will eat when he is hungry. Also make sure he is not filling himself up on juice and milk before he eats. My pediatrician advised me to give my 18 mo old son water in between meals because it is not a filler.

kids go through stages like that all the time. he may be teething and it may hurt to eat. if hes getting fluids in him and pooping once a day thats great. When he gets hungry he will eat, believe me! set out little snacks for him that he can grab throughout the day if you can. If you are that worried you can give him pediasure, but im sure hes fine!

honey, if he is healthy, happy, energetic, and not losing weight dont sweat it. my son will go days barely eating and then days eating more than i think i can consume. he takes a vitamin everyday, and as much as possible, i make sure when he does eat it is healthier things. your little man is discovering the world. and that is just more interesting right now. i sit him down with me everytime i eat. he will eat a bite or two and is ready to get down. often he runs back every few min for a a bite of mine. he will eat when he is hungry.

My two youngest kids went through these little phases. Does he ask for food sometimes? He may be just establishing his own eating habits. Get some Pediasure shakes for him, and just to be sure a check up. If he's not looking or acting sick, I wouldn't stress. But it never hurts to take him to the doc for a look see. Congrats on your first baby.

don't worry. It is a spurt. My friend had a kid that would eat one bit a day for days. Then suddenly he'd eat, then go days with not eating. He did this for years. She was relaxed about it, a few days without food won't kill them. Anyway this kid is now 10 and eats non stop.

whilst human beings ask in case you have started weaning him yet, the respond is "confident, he's been eating stable nutrition because he substitute into ___ months old, and now he beverages out of a sippy cup". Your son has been interior the weaning technique for it sluggish, pondering his age. i'm curious as to the way you desperate on 2.5 as an age of weaning. you could no longer constantly assume whilst stands out as the superb time for him to wean. He would self-wean quicker, or no longer be "waiting" at precisely that element. Anthropologist Kathryn Dettwyler believes a organic age for weaning is between 2.5-7 years old. i in my view did wean my oldest for the time of being pregnant, yet started nursing her lower back after my toddler substitute into born. We tandem nursed until the "toddler" weaned first, at approximately 18 months old. My older daughter persisted nursing for numerous years.

from what u r describe it sounds like he is getting enough. babies do not eat like adults. their stomachs are so tiny that a few bites, every few hours fills them. just make sure that the foods he does eat is healthy.
