I always see posts here asking "Why do you celebrate Christmas if you don't believe in Christ?" So I prepose we "non-believers" start celebrating Laugh At The Fundies Day on December 25th. I mean, they don't want us celebrating their totally inclusive holiday, right? So we'll just make our own.

It's a time to get together with family and friends, have fun, share good food and presents, and of course, look back at the stupid things religious fundamentalists have done over the past year and laugh and laugh.

"Hey, remember Marck Foley? Good times!"
"What about Fred Phelps? Hilarity!"
"Pass the egg nog!"

What do you think? Will it catch on? Think we can talk some stores into having Laugh At The Fundies Day sales?

Oh lighten up, David. With the sad state the world is in, you gotta laugh or else you'll cry.

My life's ambition, by the way, is to direct a big budget fantasy movie.

sweetie_baby, why do people only have to be nice to eachother on Christmas? I try to be nice to people year round. Unless that person has done something which makes them non-deserving of my niceness. Then I get snarky.

Jesus=God, I don't know where you've been, but I work in a large chain grocery store and all day, every day, it's Angels We Have Heard on High, Silent Night, Oh Little Town of Bethlahem, and on and on. Come to Randalls and hear all the religious Christmas songs you want. I just wish they'd play one, ONE Hannukah song, but no.

Pagans stealing Christmas? It replaced into any incorrect way around. They knew that the had no possibility interior the international arising with their own traditions so they had to borrow and scouse borrow those that they ought to on the present time. The evergreen, yuletide log, ivy, mistletoe, and fairly some different PAGAN traditions have pagan roots no longer christian. As for the "actual meaning of Christmas" what precisely is that? The delivery of Christ? No it relatively is fake additionally. If Christ replaced into born he replaced into born interior the springtime no longer wintry climate. As a Pagan I have not have been given any qualms approximately sharing my trip journeys yet what i might like is for persons to realize that they are my trip journeys additionally.

How about this persepctive. It was used in place of winter solstage to keep pagans from celbrating that and to celebrate a christian holiday.

It is pagan or comercial again because it has to do with spending money and santa claus and not much to do with christ. Apparently this is not the time of Christ's birthday anyway.

All holidays and weddings have become comercialized, so do not worry about it being christian. It is not.

Meh. I just don't acknowledge the Xian's stranglehold claim on the holiday. For me it's never been about Jebus and always been about family. Santa and the Kids. Later I discovered about the Pagans. Mithras and Yule. Those seem like friendlier holidays to me.

I'm just glad that now people are more open minded about the fact that there ARE other religions who celebrate holidays in December.

No, the Christians can keep Christmas. I just want them to lighten up on this need to have a strangle hold on the whole month of December.

Actually I wouldn't mind if the Christians would just allow the rest of us to feel comfortable with our Holy days.

People already have secularized it. Haven't you heard of Santa Clause, and Rodolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? The Rodolph the Reindeer song and the Frosty the Snowman song are the only Christmas songs that are tolerated in many parts of America, especially in the Democrat states. People are sooo afraid of Christmas these days.

Nah, I don't want to steal anything.

If I steal my actions are saying that there isn't enough to go around, and there is. I don't think that they understand this, though.

*wistful voice* It WOULD be nice if, in return for us sharing all the fun stuff (tree, presents, caroling, mistletoe, etc.) they would lighten up about "Happy Holidays".

But it may be too much to hope for.

We wish you a Merry Solstice,

And a fab-u-lous Yule.

Because it would make us as bad as them.

If we all believed in an eye for an eye, there would be a lot of blind people in the world.

Sooo much pain and anger.

No one stole anything from anyone. It's a free country (unless you live in Venezuela or Iran), you can worship whatever you want. Do what you want.
