If there's no blood, they're probably not fighting. Or, they're fighting to see who is going to be the boss. Puppies are very rough and very persistent and older dogs can get irritated by this. If the puppy cries in pain, the older dog should stop and back off. You may need to teach her how to play courteously. If the young one keeps going back for more, it's probably nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on it and don't leave them alone together if you're not there. Only intervene if one of them is being injured, otherwise they'll never settle into a pecking order as dogs like to do.

F/F companionship between dogs is a tough row to hoe. If the owner is not on top of the dog game everyday this is what can happen. Spaying sometimes make a difference, most times not. Two females can live together for years and then all of a sudden start fighting, sometimes to the death. The only reason the chihuahua is not involved in this pissing contest is because of sheer size. The time to get invovled was when they first started challenging each other but that is hindsight now. You may only have one choice and that is to adopt on dog out and let them know she is not compatible with another female. Your other choice, if you want to try, is the next time they start getting into a contest is to take each of them and roll them over. It's the next step in discipline. Each dog is grabbed by the scuff of the neck and forced down onto their side into a submissive down. They are held there until they become calm and submissive. No pawing, scratching or trying to get up. Once they become calm, they are imediately released. While it is not physically punitive, it is very effective mental discipline. Do a search on what is called Alpha Roll over for dogs. This discipline is an exact mimic of what an alpha pack leader would do in a pack. The other thing you can not do is leave these two together when you are not home or otherwise with them. To do so you run the risk of returning to a blood bath and one dead dog when you get home.

Dogs play rough and play by using their mouths. 2 dogs of the same gender will sometimes take it to a new level because in addition to fighting for pack status, they are trying to be the alpha female too. If you have a male and a female... they generally don't do this, they figure each one is the top of their gender and leave it at that. Not to say they don't still squabble about things, but it's not nearly as severe as 2 dogs of the same gender.
It sounds like your dogs are not only determining dominance (even though 2 months is a bit early) but they are intent on deciding who is top female too. Double Whammy!
Make sure the little one is not allowed to be with the bigger one when you aren't there to supervise. Bad things can happen to puppies who don't know the "rules" yet.
Good luck.

Well they're probably playing, but even that can get too rough. Our neighbors puppy barely scratched my 8-year old golden retriever and within a week, the goldie had a raging skin infection that required antibiotics (oral & topical). Puppies have such sharp teeth. Do they have any "tug" toys or chew toys to play with so that they aren't just depending on chewing up each other for entertainment? Also, what is your reaction when they do this? I thought it was nonsense, but my husband held my goldie puppy & scottie puppy and actually said to them that their behavior was "unacceptable". Like they understood that! But often, the human is seen as the "alpha dog" and the alpha has to intervene or their playing might progress to real fighting & then you would need to call the Dog Whisperer!

i have 5 chihuahua girls, and what you are describing your two are playing with each other, little pup is making the screaming noise because it was a bit rough. If you notice the young one croaching on the floor and keeping still she is surrending to the other. If they were to fight you would no it!! But i am 100% sure they are playing so dont worry, it looks rough but its not.

most of the time if there is no blood from either dog they are just playing. i've got 3 rotts. they all play together, but the 2 oldest always play real rough with each other, they are just playing. the way dogs determine who's boss or dominate is the dominate one will just cover the other dogs upper snout with their mouth to set dominance

It's play fighting which is totally harmless, the pup screams and runs away now and again because maybe your older dog has hurt her by accident by getting to rough but there is no need to worry and you normally leave them to it with out intervening

they are most likely trying to show dominance to each other seeing as the are both females i had the same problem they will continue to do this until dominance is shown and then the dominent one will continue to do this to show who is the main dog. there really isnt any thing you can do but try and break it up if it gets to rough.

the older ***** is teaching the other who is boss also not to bite leave them alone the youngster is learning while the older one is mothering the puppy doing what the puppies own mother would do if she were there...you will find that they will be inseparable in a few months ....it shows your older one has a good temperament

Sounds like they are playing.
The older one is also trying to establish her dominance over the baby. Typical pack behavior and nothing to worry about.
