Do you really want to let 50 murderers, rapists, child abusers, thieves, etc. out of prison every year?
Forgiveness is a good thing, but if I killed your child say, a month ago, and said "I'm sorry," would you be willing to let me go free?
Be honest with yourself.

Good question, maybe a bad idea. Or maybe a good idea, it has potechial, but at the same time, I have seen many "reformed" prisinors, and I think sometimes the old saying holds true "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime." People aren't in jail because they wanted to be, they are in jail because they did someting wrong, something drasicly wrong. Yes we have all sinned before God, yes all sins are equal in form before God. But I am sorry to say God does not control this world, at least on a social front...not that he couldn't if he didn't want to, but he has chosen to leave us to make our own choices, which means the people that are in jail, are in jail for a reason. Or so says the "great" people of our USA. I have met my share of prisnors, I mistered with my parents to many in jail for weeks at a time. Some are good people, who have learned their lesson, and will do their time willingly. Other's...well other's not so much. But either way, the reason they are in there is because they did something WRONG and if they did something WRONG they have to make it RIGHT. And the way we have set it up, is that when the prisnors behave themselves, they do something right...and they are released after their time has been served. God says that we will not go unpunished for our sins, and so the people here are the same way....
God bless you, and merry Christmas

I'm willing to forgive those who have broken the law after they have done the time.
We make mistakes that hurt others, and we have to deal with the consequences. What you seem to be asking is, "Should we take an idea from the people who killed Jesus The Romans), one that will let someone who broke the law out of jail." Seems like a crazy idea.
Compassion for the prisoner? Yes. An out of jail free card? No.

You say the wages of sin is death, you are correct, but this only means now that all will die because of sin. So everyone whom is not born again will suffer the wrath of God.
For me to answer your question Pilate did not have a say in anything, it was all God's will. It was going to come to pass anyways. Did you also read that Herod did not find fault in Jesus also? Herod was their king while Pilate was kind of like an ambassador. Pilate made his decision so that there would be no uprising from the people. So in essence Pilate simply put it in the hands of the ones saying that Jesus was a criminal. Pilate stated that he washed his hands with Jesus after he had ordered Jesus to be punished and they still wanted him crucified.
A great man told me once, " no one can do anything to me that my God does not allow." I have to agree with that 100%.

well I'm not really sure.....i mean it is a good idea, but which prisoners will we free? the ones whose crimes weren't that big a deal or the ones convicted of horrible, horrible crimes ? Here in the UAE, where i live, the rulers pardon hundreds of prisoners during some occasion, mostly during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and most of them end up converting to Islam( and no, they aren't forced to do so.)in this way, they are molded up to be better human beings and realize their mistakes and try to correct them...
my forgiveness depends on the severity of the crime i guess....

Of course we should forgive them all, but letting 50 hardcore criminals out every year is a really bad idea. They are in there because they are a danger to society. We can forgive them for their mistakes without actually letting them out. They still have to suffer the consequences of their actions. So, yes, forgive them, but let them do their time.

I agree with forgiving some people but to let a convicted rapist or murderer out, I think not. You or I could be their next target. If they were sentenced to 15 years why let out in 1??

Yeah we have all sinned but....I've never raped, murder, molested a child, or committed any other heinous acts such as these! I don't agree with letting prisoners out!
