Definitely Plasma for screen sizes over 42 inch.Here is the comparison between both the technologies;
LCD Display Advantages >>>>
Good color reproduction,Good for brightly lit rooms,Very thin,Lightweight,Perfect sharpness at native resolution,Excellent longevity,No screen burn-in effect, Fixed resolution.
LCD Display Disadvantages >>>>
Notorious “screen door” effect on lesser models,Poor contrast ratios,Very difficult to produce deep blacks,Weak and “stuck” pixels are common,Viewing angle on older models may be narrow,Slower refresh rates than plasma
Best LCD brands (1) Sharp Aquos(2)Samsung (3) Panasonic
Plasma Advantages >>>>>
The only way to go with screens bigger than 42 inch
Newer models have around 10000:1 contrast ratios for excellent black level,Excellent color reproduction,Excellent life expectancy
Excellent viewing angle
Plasma Disadvantages >>>>
Although thin, plasma TVs are fairly heavy (professional installation recommended for on-wall use)
Very susceptible to screen burn-in,though, some new models has whitewash function to take care of burn in,Fragile,Use a lot of power
Best Plasma brands (1) Pioneer (2)Panasonic (3) Hitachi

Plasma has a much better video quality and more accurate colors. Plasma has a higher contrast ratio, which means the blacks are deeper than LCD.
LCD tends to have an oversharpen image with oversaturated colors. But, some people do prefer that.
Personally, I like a plasma and that is why I bought a 50" earlier this year. Both are comparable technologies. I would go to an electronic store and see which one you like better.

LCD is best for smaller size screens. Plasma for larger screens. Depends on what size TV you are getting. Mine is a Panasonic TC-32LX60 32" LCD and it's GREAT!

LCD, plasma TV's are designed to go faulty after two years requiring you to buy a new one.

I would go with LCD. You spend more money on a plasma, usually, and if it breaks, there's nobody who can fix it.
