I think this is one area where we can learn someting from the Protestants. I think that this would help some Catholics to discover that the Bible is a Catholic book. After all, the Catholic Church put the books of the New Testament together, so it shouldn't be surprising that it agrees with the Catholic faith when taken in context.

I did mean within the guidance of the Magisterium of the Church. I guess I should have said a Bible/Catechism of the Catholic Church camp.

Scripture is wonderful. All things necessary for salvation are in there.
But..."just" a "bible camp"? Nope.
The Holy Bible was never meant to be taken out of the realm of Holy Tradition and Holy Reason

Different dioceses do run Catholic Bible camps. They aren't all that common or very annual. I believe that many Catholics feel that Sunday schools fill the role of the Protestant Bible School. Also, if religious education is a concern for you, I recomend sending your kid to the parocial school, then there is no escaping.. ;)

I am very uncomfortable with the non-catholic religious events. I say nay. I do agree with the taken in context thing though. To bad most Protestants - use the term loosely ( Note real meaning of the word) - don't think that way.

There are Catholic Bible camps for children, and plenty of bible studies and other instructional settings for adults who wish to make use of them. If your own parish doesn't offer such things, see what is available within your diocese.

I agree with Father K. Why do we need to learn from the Protestants we should be learning about our own Church?

Excuse me, but it was the Early church (which is now the Orthodox church) before the slip with Rome that "put the NT together". The Roman Catholic Church did not come into existence until 1054 when it split off from the rest of the Church. (Before then it was just the church at Rome.) Rather than studying the bible, maybe you should start with Church history.
