You claim you believe God is like the toothfairy and you do not believe. Cool enough. And yet you all come to the religion and spirituality section to shove your disbelief down everyone's throats and disrespect their personal beliefs. Why would you care so much about what you do not believe in. So is atheism a religion now? Why would I join you when you do this? What a waste of time! Do you really think you are going to stop them from believing?

I didn't say this was just for Christians. No where in my question did I mention Christians. I am only wondering why someone would take up so much time with something they dislike or did not believe in.

I'm not saying atheists can't be here. You claim that religion is shoved down your throats and that "Christians" are closed minded and offensive. (only Christians?)Why are you shocked when your behavior (the same) invokes the same reaction? How is that being more open minded?

I often wonder at the passionate interest atheists have in religion. Enough to spend hours of their time on religion forums.
I think they really deeply wish that someone will have a good enough answer that they can believe.
The Bible says that no man comes to God unless the Spirit draws him. These folks are definitely being drawn. Otherwise, they would have no interest in the subject.

First, you are generalizing. Not all atheists do this. There are many here who are kind, educated and funny. There are some antagonistic personalities here, but they come from both sides of the fence. I have seen far more nasty, biggoted xtians here than anything else.

Asking an atheist why they are concerned with religion is like asking a drowning person why they are so concerned with water. They are immersed in religion, particularly xtianity here in America. Maybe it is just a way to blow off steam. Maybe it is a way to show the proseletyzing religions how it feels to be disrespected and have a belief shoved down your throat.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This is a place for questions and answers, not just a place for people who believe in God to pat each other on the back all the time. I'm interested in people and why they believe certain things. Not like it matters, but I usually just go to the Society & Culture section and R&S is just a part of that. I answer questions that are interesting without checking what section they are in. I don't shove disbelief down throats just by stating I don't believe.

I come here to answer the questions that you people ask. Many are directed at Atheists. Like this one. I also come to learn about spirituality from others who believe as I do. And to learn new things I hadn't thought of. Not all religions are as intolerant and belligerant to outsiders as Xianity.

Also, while I do not believe in god, the followers of the religion are real enough and affect my life in various ways. Some positively, and some negatively. I come to learn, and more often than not find that I see insults and threats directed at Atheists and "nonbelievers" (Meaning anyone who isn't Xian).

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

Cant two VERY different people have a stimulating conversation about their differences and respect said differences and discuss and compare thier lives and beliefs with out getting p!&&* about it?
And I know quite a few belivers in the tooth fairy and I do find them fasinating!! LOL

I think it is immature when Atheists do that just as it is immature of Christians who go on Athiests' questions and do it. The only time I say anything is when a Christian is being intollerant of others with their questions. Like those ones talking about Muslims all the time. Those are sad. But I know there are a lot of nice Christians that just want to converse about that and that's cool with me.

First off, you just asked a question, specifically to atheists, asking them not to answer questions in this section? Do you see why that is a little funny?

Second, you get the rest of the country, at least give atheists some of this section. They don't have an atheists sections.

who cares?
religion is everybody's business. It's a huge voting bloc in the US. You guys try to pass laws based on your own personal dogma. You have national holidays that virtually shut down america. It's very naive of you to say that your religion has no affect on others. It does.
Beyond that, this is a public chat board, and answering someone's question on here does NOT constitute "shoving" anything down anyone's throat. Try to amend our constitution so that it agrees with your religion? Now THAT is shoving something down our throats.
Anyway, good luck with all that.
Oh, and why do christians whine so much?
Honestly, your like a bunch of babies.

Well aside from politics, religion brings out the biggest debates. Some atheists and christians, and pagans and every other person likes to debate and dogg people who are on the 'other team'
