Yes it is. What happens is you won't fully get rid of the infection, and what else happens is your body starts to build up a resistance to the antibiotics and they wont work as well the next time you use them. That's why they always recomend all patients to fully finish antitiotic treatment because of this.

You don't want to get sick again, get prescribed this medication and next time need two courses or it doesn't work. Just finish the full course.

First of all, you must have a good reason why you stopped, or you stopped at the order of your doctor.

Most of the time, patients are compliant with driking their meds., esp ecially antibiotics.

Having said that, some people also develop weird and bad reactions to particular antibiotics. You have to stop , right away.

If you are getting reactions, it is best that you stop the antibiotics that you are taking, and get another prescription for another type.

Always pay attention to your body as not all medicines will treat your infection the same way. Also report these things to your doctor. This is most important for a child who is usually obedient to any of your commands.

When on medications, monitor them constantly.

Another reason to stop them is when they are not giving the desired effect on you, and your doctor gets that impression from simply talking to you when you are not getting any better.

Yes, very simply, by stopping you allow the bug the opportunity to develop immunity to the drug by not irradicating it from your system completely. You may get sick again and the bug may be harder to fight the next time.
