I'm so tired of being a hypochondriac but can't seem to quit. Any ideas on how I can get over being a hypochondriac?

Think all the times you thought something was wrong and you were fine. Relax, read or see something funny. Stay away from those stories of people that had this disease etc, you'll think you have the same condition. Being a hypoc. has get me in troubles at work, has get me in huge medical debts and I feel silly and miserable for all the energy ,time and money I'd invest thinking the worst (heart attacks, strokes, sclerosis multiple...and so on). Get a physical exam and start getting control of your health in a real and active way, not just thinking you have this or that and suffering for no real reason. Write down your fears, you might discover the root to your behavior in the least expected place.

Check this out, it starts like this:☼

Welcome to the Internet's first official page for those suffering from hypochondriasis. On this site, you will find information about hypochondria, diagnostic tools, and treatment options. In the hypochondria forum, guests and members offer suggestions and support for each other. Also, the forum provides the opportunity to create and maintain your very own hypochondria journal, which studies suggest is one of the best methods for treating hypochondriasis. There is also a new scheduled weekly hypochondriac chat in the chat room.

There is some evidence that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and antidepressants can alleviate severe hypochondria.
