I had dinner and a couple of drinks with someone i met online. I travelled about 1/2 hour drive to meet her. The date went fairly well but when it came to pay she insisted on paying for it since i came a long way. I told her i would and should pay for it but she wasn't going to have it any other way. I'm used to paying so it threw me off alittle. Is this a good sign or a bad sign?

It's usually a bad sign for a first date, but maybe she's just trying hard to be gracious because you had to travel so far to meet her. Maybe she appreciates how much crap men have to deal with in order to entertain them. I wouldn't count on it, but then again it's really possible . . . .

Anyway, don't worry about it any more. Try setting up another date in another week (that is, call her in five days to one week and ask her out again). If it works out, that will be a good sign. If she won't give you a specific arrangement, or if she rejects the offer, or if she stands you up with no good reason (gasp! travelling 30 minutes to get stood up would be terrible!) then you will know that you have no chance with her. Good luck!

If you asked her out, you should pay.

If she asked you out, she should pay.

If you are in a relationship for a while, maybe both of you split the bill.

I kind of think it is a bad sign because she couldn't accept you paying for her. People who cannot accept people being nice bother me. It seems like a low self esteem issue ("I don't deserve a man treating me well" etc).

I let a man pay (following the above rules), open doors, and treat me nice. I always reciprocate too.

i think she is just trying to make things off on an equal start. I mean you went 1/2 hour just to meet her right. well my family does this a lot to not because they don't like each other because they love each other so this must be the same kind of love.

I guess it's not really good or bad. She probably just wanted to start things on an equal footing. Since you spent money and effort on coming to meet her, she wants to do her share. Don't worry about it...unless she doesn't want to go out again.
