ok, so i was talkin to my friend. they have always been homeschooled. well my friend is trying to get her GED, but her sister isnt even doing the requirments for a High School student. her sis is only 14. this is illegal right?? my friend says shes just lazzy, and she doesnt want to do it, but she does it. just not the requiermints. is there any way to help her "make her work fun". now trust me, her sister is VERY VERY lazy and she needs to go to Boot Camp, cause she yells @ her mom, and when they tell her to do something, she NEVER does it, and they dont enforce it. And when they tell her NOT to get on the comp,a dn they leave she goes right on the comp. It makes me so mad that her parents dont do anything, all they do is yell @ her, and that only makes is WORSE!! im only 19 and i dont think i should be giving the parents advice on how to raise there kid when ive never had kids, but how do i do something about this??? :( help me please, shes driving her parents MAD!

Well, nothing you can do about this except take really good note of what is going on, and try to do differently by your own kids.
Are for her fulfilling the requirements - nope, not illegal - all she has to legally do is pass an exam every year. Your state might require a bit more, but that's basically it. One of the appeals of homeschooling for many.
You're right, the parents should have consistent disipline and follow through on it.
BUT, it's their family and not yours, and they will not appreciate a comparatve child - no offense to you - trying to tell them how to raise their kids. Sad fact of the matter, but there it is.

Homeschool students are required to be tested regularly through the school year by the local district, and if they fail the tests the parents get in trouble and the students must return to a regular school setting. So yes, failing to enforce school, whether at home or at a typical campus is illegal.
There is likely nothing you can say, no matter how correct and how brilliant, that will make a difference. The best thing you can do for this girl is call the local division of child and family services.

ok frist off dont call her lazy. I have been home schooled all my life and people all the time called me lazy because I never did the "requirements". I was bored out of my head! I never felt chalenged at all. so this year I went to the community college and because of my age I could only take 2 calsses per semester, guess what in both History of art and computers I got better grades than ANY of the high school grads. all of these classes will transfer into the school of my choice. I started the college level classes 2 years earlyer than most, and these classes are higher than the usual AP classes. I get a full 6 credit hours for every semester I go to school at the community college. I drove my parents mad more times than she has probably, and I turned out ok. so dont try to push her. just know that someday she too will probably score higher than a public schooled kid on a college entrance exam.

Your right about not giving the parents advice, only if they ask you.
Also does it occur to you that the reason this kids does the things they do is CAUSE THEY CAN.? All this kids does is get yelled at. NOTHING MORE.
She is lazy cause she has no one MAKING her do things.
No 14 year old is going to all of a sudden say "I shouldnt be doing this, this is wrong". There going to do it, what ever it is, untill they get in trouble.
My suggestion is to stay away if you are not comfortable being around her. You dont live in there house do you.? Have you friend come over to your house, so you can be away from her sister.

nicely, i could say to stay in college, perhaps if it relatively is in simple terms math you will locate a thank you to take yet another direction next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. additionally, attempt to have a coach help you out, sometimes somebody the comparable age as your self could make you recognize extra useful then a instructor.do in simple terms no longer supply up. yet i mean if that still would not artwork, you need to get a GED, on the grounds that some faculties help you learn even and not making use of a severe college degree and easily a GED.

I hate to say this but Child Protection needs to be involved in this matter. If her parents don't seek help now today, her parents will be put in jail for not having a child in school whether its home school or not! If their not doing anything for her and she just runs all over the family, the law will blame the parents.. My god they need help Now!!!!

Her parents can call the school counselor and have her put on a pins program. Counseling would also be involved with the pins program.
