It is an old wive's tale because you spend 1/3 of your day sleeping and if your hair stopped growing while you slept, then it would need cut less often. I hope i am not confusing anyone! Hehe!!

I hear that your scalp like any other part of your body needs air to circulate, so people who wear hats all day or keep their heads conceiled might end up risking the hair growth there. So I would say this "sleeping on hair" thing would only be risky if this is done without moderation.

unless you have found a way to sleep with your head hanging in midair, you are sleeping on your hair and its growing. We all sleep on our hair and it grows.
