I have a 4 year old that LOVES sidewalk chalk. When it's raining or too hot or too cold, I gt out the sidewalk chalk. Sounds weird huh? I went to a arts and craft store and bought some BLACK construction paper. It works great with sidewalk chalk.
You can even go to www.fresnofamily.com and they have a really easy recipe for homemade sidewalk chalk that your child can help you make. And believe it or not, my daughter draws big pictures on her WHITE wall with the chalk, and when she's done, it comes right off with a little windex.

Do you have a chalkboard? That would be my only suggestion... If you don't you can make one. All you have to do is get a piece of wood the size you desire, and paint it with chalkboard paint. You could make quite a large surface for your child to draw on . Make sure you sand the wood well before you paint, and apply several coats of the chalkboard paint. I think you can purchase it at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Well it depends on what kind of paint you have on the wall. If you have semi-gloss it should wipe off pretty well if you just take a damp cloth over it when time.
