There are a lot of reasons you could have dark circles. It could be lack of sleep, stress, or if you even the way you apply your makeup. The skin under your eyes is very delicate, and rubbing it can break the little vessels under there, and that's one thing that causes it. Try and get more sleep if you think that's the problem. You can get Vitamin E sticks at most places that sell cosmetics, I found one at Wal-mart a while back, and I've heard those help there. Also, if you apply concealer or anything there, apply it gently, and go from the outside of your eye to the inside, and that should help reduce the darkness.

I have this problem too...everyone says "sleep more" but I have had dark circles under my eyes for years, even when I sleep for more than 8 or 9 hours per night. Sleep deprivation leads to "bags" under the eyes, not dark circles, from my experience at least. Of course, every BODY is different.

I believe for people who have had dark circles their entire life, it is more of a part of the person's physical makeup. Underneath the eye, the skin is very delicate and thin; and some people's capillaries are very close to the surface, resulting in a purplish, "bruised" look...especially with fair-skinned people. No cream is going to push the capillaries further down into the dermis, no matter how much we apply.

I have heard of eye creams containing Vitamin K better than most...while you are treating it, apply a concealer. If you're brave enough, fat transplantation is an option...inject fat from hip, thigh, or butt into the affected area via syringe to add plumpness and therefore, reduce the darkness. I myself can't afford plastic surgery and so I must stick with the cosmetics...LOL!

Best of luck!

It is not an illness don't worry! I have dark circles under my eyes too and I get enough sleep. I think it's just the way some people are! My eyes are not puffy at all, they just have dark circles under them. Its a pain but I just use an YSL concealer on them everyday.

Not only can this be caused by too little sleep but also too much sleep or iron defieciency. Try regulating your sleep to 8 hrs a day and see your doctor for a iron test.

as most people suggest,it could be tiredness or you could be lacking some sort of vitamin.Does dark circles run in the family? That could be the reason too,you can inherit them! All i can suggest is get a good light-reflective concealer and apply with your ring-finger using a light dabbing motion. It works for me.

Could be allergies. Try putting cucumber slices on your eyes. Used teabags are supposed to help, too.
